Laser hair removal
Our laser & IPL hair removal treatments are safe for all skin types and colours and are suitable for anyone looking for permanent, silky-smooth results.
The laser used in the procedure is an Nd:yag laser and is attracted to the pigment of the hair follicle, which means the darker the hair, the better it draws the energy of the laser beam to it, giving greater hair reduction. Your therapist will consider whether your unwanted hair has enough pigment to be treated and will discuss this with you in your free consultation. We also use IPL & Radiofrequency in combination for hair reduction, this allows us to treat all skin types.
At your consultation you will have a patch test, which allows us to select not only the right laser for your skin type, but to calibrate it exactly to achieve the best results possible, whilst ensuring the highest safety at all times. It's important to tell us if your skin is not its usual colour - for instance if you have a tan, or have had a recent reaction to something, as this can dramatically affect our ability to give you the best treatment.

How long does treatment take?
Depending on the area, around 15-30 minutes.

What are the most popular areas for laser hair removal?
The most popular areas are female facial hair, bikini line hair and back hair for men.

What are the risks of hair removal?
Laser hair removal is a lunch time procedure. There is no recovery time. Patients can return to work or play immediately. These lasers do not remove skin, so the risks are very low. As with any procedure, we have an informed consent that explains all the possible risks.

How old to you have to be for laser hair removal?
There really is no age limit, but we never treat toddlers. Young people that are not finished growing will develop new hair as they grow, and will require touch ups to maintain the results. We currently do not treat children under the age of 13. Older people usually have grey hair that will not respond to laser.

Is it painful?
People have compared it to a rubber band snapping against the skin. Compared to waxing the treatment has very little discomfort. Everyone's pain tolerance is different. If you do find it uncomfortable, we can prescribe a numbing cream for the skin.
