Fillers

Fillers involve injecting a substance into the skin to reduce folds and wrinkles. It works by plumping up the skin to "fill out" the lines and wrinkles, leaving a smooth and natural looking effect.

The main component of fillers is Hyaluronic Acid, a naturally occurring substance in human skin that helps repair damaged tissue. It can also bind with collagen, which is the material that supports facial skin, in a way that allows more natural nutrients to flow to the skin.

While hyaluronic acid is naturally a liquid, fillers are chemically altered to produce a gel. This means it lasts considerably longer before being metabolized by the body.

Fillers are suitable for most people with unwanted wrinkles. It may be particularly suitable and effective for people looking to combat the signs of ageing or dealing with the effects of excessive exposure to UV rays.

How many syringes will I need?

Exact prices, the type of filler and the number of syringes to be confirmed during your consultation.

A syringe is simply a measurement of the anti-wrinkle injectable gel administered during treatment. Typically, treatment for nose to mouth lines require 1 - 2 syringes, marrionette lines require 1-2 syringes, lips require 1 - 2 syringes and cheeks require 2 syringes.

Is the treatment uncomfortable?

A local anaesthetic cream is used to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. For treatments near the mouth, such as lip treatments, your practitioner will freeze the area with an anaesthetic injection.  After the treatment your practitioner will give you aftercare instructions to maximise its benefits.

Are there any side effects?

The commonest side effects are related to the fact that you have had injections in the area being treated, they typically last only one to three days.

These side effects can include slight bleeding and mild bruising, swelling may also occur around the area. If you have lip treatment swelling can last 3-5 days, otherwise it is temporary.
