PDO Thread Lift

A thread lift is a type of face lift that is often referred to as the ‘lunch hour lift’. This is down to its simplicity and the time it takes to carry out the procedure.

A tiny entry will be made by the ear then fine threads are advanced along pre-marked contours.

The threads are made from polydioxanone (PDO) – the same material used for medical stitches – which dissolve naturally in the body over time.

Once the threads are in place, your body starts to produce new bundles of collagen around each thread and this in turn creates a subtle yet effective lift. The results differ for each person, but are very natural giving a rejuvenated and refreshed look. There is no scarring and recovery times are a lot less than those associated with traditional surgery.

Who can't be treated?

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding you would be advised to delay treatment, this is simply a precaution.

Does it hurt?

Anaesthetic injections are not usually required but can be given upon request.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

How long do the results last?

The effects will last from 12 to 18 months.

Are there any side effects?

The threads cause a very mild reaction with some patients experiencing some swelling and bruising as a result of the injections. This is normally light but we can’t guarantee it won't be severe. Everyone reacts slightly differently. Timing your treatment to take this into account is advised. Other possible but rare side effects include: Oedema (swelling), bruising, infection, foreign body reaction/granuloma, needle haematoma, pain, protrusion, migration (uni-directional and bi- directional cogs), facial nerve trauma and asymmetry.

What happens during treatment?

Local anesthetic is injected into the treatment area. The PDO thread will then be introduced using a cannula or micro-needle in the required area. Your face will feel numb and your mouth may be asymmetrical for a few hours, similar to that of dental injections. Please refrain form chewing or drinking hot liquids until your face has regained full sensation.

You will be able to fully resume your everyday routine and social commitments within a couple of days. PDO Therapy is a tailor made treatment, which can be adjusted to your requirements at any time.
